Ljubljana
Ljubljana is the capital of the small Alpine state of Slovenia. Since becoming independent Slovenia has been the most stable and prosperous of the former Yugoslav republics.
Close to Slovenia’s borders with Italy to the east and Austria to the north, the city is well positioned as an important gateway between western Europe and the Balkans. It has a population of 270,000.
