Each store carries approximately 8,000 different types of wine, 2,000 types of spirits (where permitted by law) and 1,000 different beers.

They buy in volumes, sell individually

buy in bulk, and get discount from manufacturer because they purchase quantities.

Then, sell them individually to consumers

make money on the "spread" - the difference in price of buying in bulk & selling individually
