In return, BBC serves a public mission of informing and elevating the British public (and entertaining them)

Must comply with government standards for content and distribution

In recent years, the monopoly of BBC has been challenged by companies such as BSkyB a stellite tv provider from Rupert Murdoch of Australia (also the owner of Fox)
