Fragile.
with excess liquidity in the boom years.... danger of bad loans...which might come back to haunt them.
In late 2008 / early 2009.... a string of foreign banks tried to exit the Chinese market....why? officially they said it was to raise money to pay for losses in America, but maybe they were also exiting China in anticipation of trouble. With exports falling, there will surely be bankruptcies among companies, and this could trickle up to the banks, which are already fragile due to above mentioned factors.
