Cyprus
Cyprus is located at the intersection of the trade routes which link Western Europe with the Middle East and the Far East. The country is in the eastern Mediterranean and has a population which is divided between the Greek (85%) and Turkish Cypriot (12%) communities.
There are two international airports offering over 1000 scheduled flights per week, operated by 36 international airlines.
Historically the island has depended on its maritime and financial service sectors, but is increasingly attracting multinationals who wish to establish international business companies (IBCs.) Well known multinationals such as Siemens, SmithKline Beecham, Hoffman la Roche, NCR and RJ Reynolds maintain regional offices on the island. Other areas for potential investors include ship ownership.
Inward Investors, IBCs and shipping companies benefit from the advanced telecommunications infrastructure on the island and the workforce graduating from the recently established University of Cyprus.
